William “Bill” Henry Napier Ellis, Jr., 66, passed away on Sept. 7, 2016, at the Medical University of SC in Charleston, after an extended illness. The memorial service will occur on Friday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal Markley Chapel, 10 N. Church St., in downtown Greenville, SC. A visitation reception will follow the service in the McKissick Room.
A Celebration of Life Marina Potluck will be held to honor Bill at the Charleston City Marina Megadock, 17 Lockwood Dr., in Charleston, SC, on Monday, Sept. 19, from 6-8 p.m. Shelley Waters will perform.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made payable to Charleston Transplant Home and sent to P.O Box 1126, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29465. Or, donations may be made to the MUSC Living Donor Institute, payable to MUSC Foundation, 18 Bee Street – MSC450, Charleston, SC 29425.
Bill was born in Fort Eustis, Va., on Nov. 14, 1949, the oldest son of William Henry Napier “Nap” Ellis and Frances Elisabeth “Libby” Woodward Ellis. As the son of a career Army officer, he moved frequently with his family starting in Alaska (before it was a state), Knoxville, TN; Long Island, NY; Okinawa, Japan; Atlanta, Ga.; and back to Virginia.
