Hey Dave,

It was ether 71 or 72 that Perry died when the pilot light in the gas water heater in his bathroom had gone out and he suffocated . He has a brother that is on the alumni site I had talked to once about getting some pictures, he said he would look but never got back to me. There is a year book picture in the ’71 Erawan at Bangsue.

William Henry Napier Ellis Jr.

William “Bill” Henry Napier Ellis, Jr., 66, passed away on Sept. 7, 2016, at the Medical University of SC in Charleston, after an extended illness. The memorial service will occur on Friday, Sept. 16, at 2 p.m. at Christ Church Episcopal Markley Chapel, 10 N. Church St., in downtown Greenville, SC. A visitation reception will follow the service in the McKissick Room.

A Celebration of Life Marina Potluck will be held to honor Bill at the Charleston City Marina Megadock, 17 Lockwood Dr., in Charleston, SC, on Monday, Sept. 19, from 6-8 p.m. Shelley Waters will perform.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made payable to Charleston Transplant Home and sent to P.O Box 1126, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29465. Or, donations may be made to the MUSC Living Donor Institute, payable to MUSC Foundation, 18 Bee Street – MSC450, Charleston, SC 29425.

Bill was born in Fort Eustis, Va., on Nov. 14, 1949, the oldest son of William Henry Napier “Nap” Ellis and Frances Elisabeth “Libby” Woodward Ellis. As the son of a career Army officer, he moved frequently with his family starting in Alaska (before it was a state), Knoxville, TN; Long Island, NY; Okinawa, Japan; Atlanta, Ga.; and back to Virginia.

I didn’t see this memorial to fallen ISBers. If his picture is not there, I would like to suggest you add my brother Brad (class of ’76). His last yearbook picture would have been in 1974. Bradley B. Dunning 1958-2006. RIP brother.

Kristopher Dunn ~ Class of 1988

After a courageous battle with cancer, Kristopher James Dunn, loving son and brother, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kristopher was born April 6, 1970 in Payson, Utah to Ronald James and Patricia Prince Dunn. He graduated from high school in Bangkok, Thailand and attended the University of Utah. Kristopher was an artist and especially loved stained glass. He also enjoyed hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, the outdoors, and his cats. His employment as a Medical Research Assistant was his favorite and he found much satisfaction in that work. A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kristopher served in the Raleigh North Carolina Mission. He loved his family and friends dearly.

Kristopher is survived by his parents, Ron and Patty Dunn; siblings, Aimee (Gardner) Kelly, Kelly (Mike) Hardy, David (Julie) Dunn, Cynthia (Joseph) Johnson, and Kimberly (Zac) Davis. He also leaves behind his Grandpa, James W. Dunn and nieces and nephews who love him. Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Benjamin Cemetery, 7400 South 3200 West, Benjamin, Utah.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Bishop David S. Nielson, Rick V. Heninger, Rita Divine, his ward members and neighbors, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Absolute Compassion Hospice and Janel Larsen, RN.

Glenn “Dutch” R. Duarte

It comes with great lament to announce an abrupt end to the venerable life of Glenn R. “Dutch” Duarte (July 20, 1951 – February 10, 2013), resident of Seattle and Redmond, Washington. Dutch is survived by many who loved him; amongst them are his wife, Carol, his two sons, Garrett and Brett, his parents, Richard and Agnes, and his siblings Debbie, Diane, Donna and Gayle. Dutch’s passing occurred while traveling and consulting in Bangkok, Thailand. It was a place that was close to his heart, having graduated high school in 1969 from the International School of Bangkok, and having held a directorship position at D I Designs Corporation there in recent years.

A successful architect with many local ties to the Pacific Northwest, Dutch was president of Duarte Bryant and Ambia Architecture, headquartered in Seattle’s Pioneer Square. He held a great appreciation for design, and was an advocate for historic preservation. Having earned his degree in architecture from Washington State University, Dutch and his wife remained avid WSU Cougar fans and supporters.

Born in Honolulu, Dutch held many great memories of his family and his upbringing in Hawaii. He was proud to carry the state identification card, for reasons more profound than his satisfaction in receiving the Kama’aina rate. He returned often, and he planned to maintain his connection with Hawaii throughout his retirement. Dutch was also an avid collector, and his childhood influences on the island contributed to his eclectic character.

A remembrance will be held at a later date. Dearest Dutch: You are greatly missed.

Ann Downer ~ Class of 1978

Dear classmates, my family and I only lived in Bangkok for a year, 1972-1973. I attended ISB when I was in 8th grade, and my sister was in 7th. I am deeply saddened to report to you that my sister, Ann Downer-Hazell, died yesterday after a difficult struggle with ALS. She leaves behind her wonderful husband, Ed, and her nearly 16-year-old son, Ben. And me, and our mother Vesta. May Ann’s memory forever be a blessing. Judy Downer
