It is with a very heavy heart that my family and I say good bye to my brother Neal Waidelich class of 1971.

He had the best time at the last 2 reunions. I want to thank his friends that shared his past memories in Thailand and created many new memories for him.  He had a big heart and would do anything for anyone.

Neal Dennis Waidelich

Neal Dennis Waidelich, 66, passed away June 3, 2019. No memorial service is scheduled at this time.

 

Mr Waidelich was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. He moved to DeLand in 1957. In 1966, he and his family moved to Bangkok, Thailand. Neal graduated from the International School Bangkok in 1971. While in Thailand he developed an interest in collecting Asian antique. After graduation, he lived in Hawaii for a few years going to school and working security at the airport. In 1976 he moved back to DeLand and began working for Caulkins Electric. He was always willing to help a friend if they needed it. He is survived by his daughter, Delaney, his mother Elaine along with his sister, Claudia and his two brother, Ron and Jeff.

Jutta Weber ~ Class of 1973

Departed ~ 1972 ~ Car wreck coming home from Pattaya

I just wanted to let you know that I was her friend and think of her often, as well as the three people that perished with her. Had it not been for my sister Kendra I would have gone with her and Naldo and the brother and sister who died with her. There but for the grace of God go I. She is not forgotten even after 40 years.

I asked Gareth if he knew the names of the three other people that died in the wreck.

Mike and Christine Anderson were their names I think, they were brother and sister. Naldo was Brazilian or Portuguese. He was cremated 2-3 days later in Bangkok at a buddhist temple. I stood with his mother and father as the pyre burned. I can still smell the incense, the sickly sweet flowers everywhere and the smoke.

Hello,   My name is Steven Trigg, I lived at Swiss Chateau (soi 67 sukhumvit rd) below the Webber family and knew Jutta… Ralph and Carla.  We socialised and were friends. Jutta was like an angel, so friendly and gentle.  My father came on the morning of the crash and told me… I was devastated.  That day at ISB it was like a  morgue. Her parents got the news as they embarked from a plane from Hong Kong.  I saw the remains of the vehicle some time later…  best regards,   Steven Trigg

Mrs. Bunnag was  a tall, attractive, Englishwoman who spoke flawless Thai and was married to the art teacher.  I have a painting of his that he gave to my parents.  She was a very kind woman.  If you have any contact information on Mr. Bunnag or her family, I would like to send them my condolences.  I remember Mrs. Bunnag very fondly.  Patricia Camden

First of all, thank you all for the energy you give in keeping contact for former students. Memories make our life. Even if it is always sad to learn the departure of somebody who was part of your life.
Mrs Bunnag was a very elegant and strict lady. Actually, I was very impressed of her very paused way of talking and making things clear of understanding. I remember her watching in a friendly way, at lunch time, girl student’s wear. She would make her point subtly clear if fantasy clothing or make up was a little overboard. She had a special way of appearing somewhere without noticing her presence, which was her job to watch on us for our best.

Just learned of the death on May 30, 2019 of Gene Nelson who taught Vocal Music at the International School Bangkok during the mid-1980s.

Here’s what I wrote to his wife, Dorie, who taught in the ISB Elementary School:

So very sorry to hear of Gene’s death, dear Dorie. He was a magnificent human being, bringing joy, laughter and the feeling of success and achievement through music and acting. Both Eleanor and I have been blessed to have worked with him as students at Fort Vancouver High School and then again as educational colleagues at the International School Bangkok.
Thank you for sharing him with us. Condolences to you and your entire family.

Hans Loudermilk ~ Class of 1967

Hans Loudermilk ~ Class of 1967

Hans Loudermilk Class of 1967 passed away last night, May 14, 2018, in San Jose Costa Rica. He was visiting me at my house in Playa Negra, Guanacaste and had a severe bleeding episode requiring emergency room attention. He was suffering from cirrhosis of the liver caused by Hepatitis C and internal bleeding
